In Korean tradition, the first 100 days (Baek-il) is a very special time for parents and a newborn baby. Its the first official milestone for the families of a newborn baby. Back in the day, the survival rates before the first 100 days was minimal but would increase after the 100th day mark. Historically, it became customary for families to wait until the 100th day to officially celebrate the birth of a new child.
Happy 100th day baby Micah. He’s grown so much since his session just a month ago.

Baby Max celebrated his first birthday with a BIG party at Han Sung Oak restaurant in Annandale, VA. Max’s mom really knows how to throw a party. She made the traditional dohl/dol decorations herself (check out the 2nd picture). Super Cute! And Max – SUPER DOOPER CUTE! He had me at ‘hello’.
BTW, how cool is his name? Maxwell.

I was driving this morning when I heard a phrase on the radio that caught my attention – “Dogs have souls.” Researchers claim there’s long list of observable emotional and ethical behavior of dogs. List of behaviors include:
• Dogs have a sense of fair play. They dislike cheaters. They experience joy in play. They delight in friends. Big dogs handicap themselves in games with little dogs.
• Dogs get jealous when a rival gets more or better treats or treatment. They are resentful, unnerved or saddened by unfair behavior. They are made anxious by suspense. They get afraid.
• They are embarrassed when they mess up or do something clumsy. They feel remorse or regret when they do something wrong. They seek justice. They remember the bad things done to them, but sometimes choose to forgive.
• Dogs have affection and compassion for their animal and human friends and family. They defend loved ones. They grieve their losses. They have hope.
WELL DUH~!!! Did they really need research to prove that dogs have souls?

So yea . . . its been over a week since I’ve updated my blog but I have a very good reason for the delay. I’m wrapping up editing images from Jim & Marie’s wedding – which was held during one Saturday that didn’t rain here around DC area. Its been raining for past 2 months every single weekend. (Go away rain!) No rain but strong winds provided some dramatic effects with Marie’s dress & veil.
And a huge shout out to Paul & Inhar for gathering awesome images.
So here’s the story of their wedding and how beautiful that day was – hopefully we’ll get a nice sunny weekend here soon.

What a small world! I was contacted by Sydney’s mom to document her first birthday party at Maggiano’s. We’ve been emailing each other back & forth – sorting out the party details. And when we finally met face to face, I immediately recognized her – we went to high school together! haha . . .
I was so happy to meet her little darling and to be part of their special day. Here’s a sneak for the family.

Kaitlyn is a spunky 1 year old girl (make sure to check out the last photo). She’s going to be celebrating her 1st birthday in couple of weeks in her pretty little hanbok so check back soon for her party photos. Here are few of my favorite images from her portrait session.

I love this picture!
